Welcome to Hamishes' Hoose website

Situated in Paisley town centre, Hamishes’ Hoose was opened with great fanfare in 1988 as a Traditional Bar/Restaurant. Our promise was (and still is) to provide: good, honest to goodness value for money; Food, Drink and the best Entertainment in the town in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We have a great team to serve you, every member of our cheery staff is regularly battered into submission so that they will provide you with the best service in town, and hey! you might even get a smile to go with your order.

Hamishes’ Hoose has won awards for our community based outlook, our massive contribution to the entertainment scene and we were also finalists in the Pub of the Year awards hosted by the Licensed Trade Association of Scotland. We stock only the best of produce from local suppliers and pride ourselves on our popular range of beers.

At Hamishes we are dedicated to making sure that the good people of Paisley have one of the finest eating, drinking and entertainment venues in the West of Scotland.

Why Hamishes’ Hoose?

Well, Hamish is Auld Scots for James and in Scotland, James is ‘Jimmy’

(slang for everyman)

therefore

Hamishes’ Hoose = Everybodys' Home. Easy eh!!!

Aye the swirling, billowing moisture laden clouds of another dank summer is now a common event, the midges are feeding well in the Trossachs, Perth is knee deep in water and the south of England is having a hose pipe ban. Mind you the rain is pretty warm though. On a brighter note the football season has just started and there is only 120 odd days till Christmas.

Hey!! Wait a minute, wait a minute, the best of the year has still to come with lots of excitingly musical and comedic events planned for your local Bar/Restaurant: Hamishes Hoose, and you don’t have to travel tae Auld Reekie to take part.

Saturday September the 4th sees the return of the Joke Box with some star comedy acts fresh from the Edinburgh Festival being attracted by filthy lucre and even filthier audience members to Hamishes’. Graham Mackie leads off the comedy revival at Hamishes with Gary Little and Chris Forbes lending great support. The JB will be on the first Saturday of each month, remember to visit the website to find out more. www.hamisheshoose.co.uk . Tickets are the usual £5 which can be bought from behind the bar or on the door that night.

Republic of Soul has been slotted in for Saturday the 25th September at 9pm. I don’t know if you have heard of these guys but they are one of the best live acts I have ever seen, their tag line of Hand Clappin, Foot Stompin, Funky Butt Live is an indication of how the night will go. An excellent Blues Bros and Commitments style set sees all the favourite songs being played, audience participation on the ‘doo wops’ is encouraged by the boys and there are often more women singing along with them than I have had hot dinners. Who said ‘and that’s more than a few’?

This neatly brings me to the meals at Hamishes’ Hoose. We continue our best ever Buy One Get One Free deal on all main meals all day, every day from Monday till Sunday. The certainty that we serve the best, fantastic quality home cooked food in the Renfrewshire has been acknowledged by our patrons. The fact that our customers return for more great food on a weekly and sometimes daily basis is testament to the high regard with which they hold Hamishes’ Hoose.

Awrite tooth pickers? A recent top ten poll among the diners gave number one slot to the Chicken and leek pie, coming a close second, and holding steady sales is the Chicken St Andrews, Steak Pie as you would expect comes in high on the list at number 3 while Fresh Haddock and Chip secures 4th place. At number 5, and rising promisingly is the Pork Medallions in a Honey and Mustard sauce, at 6 there is a new comer in the shape of the Slow Braised Lamb Shank in a rich rosemary jus, and making an entry into the carnivore chart is the Vegetarian Mushroom Stroganoff at 7. Steamed sausage holds on to the number 8 spot while Chicken al Fungi climbs to number 9 and propping up the top ten chart is a substantial plate of Haggis Neeps and Tatties.

Just to refresh your memory Hamishes’ Hoose serves food every day Monday till Sunday from 12 noon till 9pm (last orders at 8.45pm). The little kiddie winkies are welcome too as we provide smaller sized portions of our great food for their wee gubs, the cherubs!

Entertainment is always high on our regular activities and we aim to provide the best possible in each category, there are some weeks that we serve Karaoke done three ways, the first on a Thursday is our hugely successful £50 cash prize competition, on Fridays we host Pamela’s Big Mad Karaoke/Disco party and on regular Saturdays, in between Live Comedy and Bands we have the technical wizardry Karaoke from Chris and his interactive video displays. Three nights of Karaoke, you say? There are three very different approaches on three very different nights but the same fantastic entertainment for our Paisley Pals.

Time for me to sign off now, but just to alert you that shortly we will be sending out notification of our Christmas menu, and talking of Christmas festivities we have managed to secure the services of The Jersey Boys Live show for December the 15th, tickets which cost a £5 for this night will be on sale soon (show only). I will put the details on the website in the not too distant future.

Ciao, Ciao bambini’s.

Hey ho, here we go with another great idea from the Hamishes’ bumper bag of special ideas. A Karaoke Contest, yep! We launch a £50 cash prize Karaoke competition every Thursday night at Hamishes’ Hoose. Karaoke Chris will host the night starting the 1st July where he will lead the singing with a few tunes of his own before the prospective money winners have a go. The audience will decide who should win this fascinating contest by using the clapometer method.
